Personal Statement

My exploration into the practices of meditation and yoga began over 40 years ago in college and eventually led me to the world-renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA. In 1999, I earned my first certification as a Yoga Teacher and followed with certification as a Yoga Nidra Guide.

For over 20 years, I led weekly meditation and yoga classes and annual silent meditation retreats in beautiful nature-based places in Maine and on Cape Cod. I have a deep and abiding respect for the potential of the many practices in the yogic tradition to nurture one’s wisdom for life through self-care, attending to the mind-body-spirit connection and tuning into the heart’s deepest longings.

In 2020, during the CoVid pandemic isolation period, I deepened my practice with the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Palouse training and received my teaching certification through Teach Mindfulness UK. I find Mindfulness Meditation a powerful component to a spiritual practice. It applies so beautifully to all aspects of daily life. As we walk through our days, particularly in periods of great change like we are experiencing now, I see mindfulness as an essential skill for staying grounded and centered and kind in moments that matter.

I now curate my days studying, teaching, writing and celebrating the changing beauty of the natural world. I count playing and cultivating joy with our grandkids as a core element of my spiritual practice!
