Personal Statement

My exploration into the practices of meditation and yoga began in college in 1978 and eventually led me to the world-renowned Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox, MA. In 1999, I earned my first certification as a Yoga Teacher and followed with certification as a Yoga Nidra Guide. For over 20 years, I led meditation and yoga classes and retreats in beautiful nature-based places in Maine and on Cape Cod. I have a deep and abiding respect for the potential of the many practices in the yogic tradition to nurture a wisdom for life through self-care, attending to the mind-body-spirit connection and tuning into the heart’s deepest longings.

In 2020, during our CoVid pandemic isolation, I deepened my practice with the Palouse MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) training and with Teach Mindfulness UK to earn my certification. I find Mindfulness Meditation a delicious component to a spiritual practice. It applies so beautifully to all aspects of daily life. As we walk through our days, particularly in periods of great change, I see mindfulness as an essential skill for staying grounded and centered in moments that matter.

I now curate my days studying, teaching and writing and attending to the beauty of the natural world. I count playing and cultivating joy with our grandkids as a core element of my spiritual practice!
